Sketch Fest has ended! Stay tuned for the next event!

Work by: Christina Kester

I am a 35 year old artist and new mother. For 10 years I was an archaeologist. After the birth of my son, I decided it was time to shift my focus and my career toward my passion art. I work primarily in traditional mediums using Celtic and Medieval themes. My recent work is inspired by Medieval illuminated manuscripts, Japanese woodblock prints, Art Nouveau (particularly Aubrey Vincent Beardsley), and Native American art.

I recently stumbled upon pyrography and realized that it was a perfect match to my designs. I love the character and earthy feel that the wood adds to my work. The fact that my finished pieces can be used either as decorative art or as functional items also appeals to me. I hope to add wood turning to my skills soon.
