Autumn Harvest by Nicole Cadet

Autumn Harvest
by Nicole Cadet

Prompt: Autumn Harvest
prompted by: Hope Bryant, during Sketch Fest #27 (August, 2012)

Pencil Sketch A4 40mins For some reason I got it in my head that wheat was an autumn crop (probably because of the colours I associate with autumn), so the link to the prompt is fairly tenuous. Unfortunately I realised my brain blip part way into the drawing....

Comment?

Edward Cammarota says: It looks like small gourds in her basket, so that's an autum crop. She just happens to be walking through a field of wheat. ~ Reply?

Nicole Cadet replied to this: :) Thanks Ed

Mandy R. says: I always associated wheat with autumn too...lol, probably because of the color. But regardless, she's wonderful! Love her hair! ~ Reply?

Nicole Cadet replied to this: Thanks Mandy :)

Hope Bryant says: Wheat like a lot of things does often dry for harvest about this time of year. :) I gre up on a farm so yeah. There is also whatis called "winter wheat", that is planted just after other crops are harvested. It helps preserve the ground soil from erosion and "dries" earlier then other wheat. ~ Reply?

Nicole Cadet replied to this: I knew there was 'winter' and spring/summer wheat (I've mostly seen it growing during the hot weather), but didn't know the winter crop was used for preventing soil erosion :)
