Walnut brownies by mikka
prompted by: Ellen Million, during The Final Sketch Fest (#129, March, 2021)
This is a finished version of a sketch!
2 oz baking chocolate
2 oz butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup walnut pieces
Next challenge: finding a box they'll fit flat in. Ellen, would you like a second flavor, and if so, what?

replied to this: I hope so! 🍪
Ellen Million says: Yuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm! I cannot believe you made me brownies! A second flavor??? Um...is butterscotch a thing? *tears* ~ Reply?
replied to this: Butterscotch chips (size and texture of chocolate chips, different flavor) are a thing. Toffee chips (small crunchy sugar candy bits) are also a thing. I don't have either at the moment, but could get some tomorrow. I do have caramel bits (chewy sticky spheres a bit bigger than a chocolate chip). Any of those could go into standard brownies. Or the internet offers me various recipes for "butterscotch brownies" which seem to run to bar cookies made with brown sugar and no chocolate, though presumably one could add chocolate chips. Thoughts? Ellen Million
replied to this: TOFFEEEEEEE. I love toffee and did not even think that might be a thing. Oh, but caramel. You are making this very hard. I have to go toffee. mikka
replied to this: Or moving out of bar cookies, I have made these -- http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/butterscotch_cookies/ -- salted butterscotch cookies before, and quite like them. Ellen Million
replied to this: Also...flat rate priority will almost certainly be the most economical for shipping and the more rectangular medium size ought to be a good shape. Jake, over my shoulder, votes for butterscotch cookies but also offers to eat all of the toffee brownies. :P mikka
replied to this: I'll lean toward the known-good recipe if you're allowing Jake a vote. The toffee chips betrayed me slightly the last time I used them, as they declined to stay crunchy on top of banana muffins, though they've done well for me in oatmeal cookies in the past.
If you offer prompts like "bittersweet" baked goods really can't be *that* much of a surprise. I've baked for skechfests before. :)
