Reptilian Regina by Tallulah Cunningham

Reptilian Regina
by Tallulah Cunningham

Prompt: Serpent Queen
prompted by: Mayumi Ogihara, during Sketch Fest #102 (September, 2018)

A bit of fun with a cobra body, a russian kokoshnik and a brief nod to hungarian endemic clothing with their fantastic sleeves.

mikka says: That's a fascinating character design, with the cobra's hood for her hips. Do the crook and branch mean something in particular? ~ Reply?

Tallulah Cunningham replied to this: The hook was based on Egyptian regalia (the headdress was initially the high and low crown of Egypt), but rather than doing an ankh for the other hand I decided to do something a bit more druidic. Japanese shamanistic ceremony includes the use of a particular type of tree branch in purification rituals and displays, and I think that had an influence on me choosing to include it. Shes in a sort of a bits and pieces costume with elements from many cultures (India, Russia, Hungary, Japan, Egypt).

mikka says: Oh, neat! Thank you for all the sourcing details on her regalia. ~ Reply?
