Alectrona by Rowan Lewgalon

by Rowan Lewgalon

Prompt: Greek Goddess
prompted by: Jools62, during Sketch Fest #100!! (July 2018)

This is a finished version of a sketch!

Alectrona is also known as Electryone or Electryo. According to mythology, she's the daughter of Helios and Rhode (Rhodos), a nymph from the island of Rhodos. Her brothers are the Heliadae, the seven sons of Helios and Rhodos, who started the tradition of giving sacrifices to Athena. Alectrona is a goddess of the sun and the morning, and probably of man's waking sense, which causes him to wake up in the morning. "Electryone" means "amber, shining, iridescent", which is quite a fitting name for a goddess of the sun and morning. The Doric form of her name, "Alectrona", is fairly similar to the word for "rooster", which goes well with her being a goddess of man's waking sense. Finished version.
