Centaurette by Amy Sue Stirland

Centaurette

Prompt: Centaurette
prompted by: Natta, during Sketch Fest #79 (September 2016)

I don't think my iPad photo is doing it justice, 5x7 marker and pencil on tan toned paper.

Natta says: She looks very fancy! A really good pose she strikes. I seldom use marker, I don`t want those stripes though people said it is possible to avoid them. ~ Reply?

Amy Sue Stirland replied to this: The only time I get those marker lines is when I'm in a rush or when my marker is drying out. I think in this case I had both issues (I was running out of hour and had to go get my husband from work). But, if you saturate the paper and layer with lighter colors, you can still minimize the lines. And, done right, those lines can add texture to a drawing, just like a pencil or paintbrush stroke. I am still more bothered by her proportions.

Natta says: You are sure right and proportions aren`t easy. ~ Reply?

Amy Sue Stirland replied to this: I have a hard time balancing the proportions and filling the page. I can either get proportions and have half the page empty, or fill the page and have some strange proportions. I guess that's what practice is for. :)
