Ivy Sketch by Joyce Jackson

Ivy Sketch
by Joyce Jackson

Prompt: Patterns in the ivy
prompted by: Rene Kunert, during sketch Fest #69 (November, 2015)

This artist has posted at least one finished version of this piece!

A preliminary sketch just to get a feel for ivy. I start to make patterns at a later stage. The patterns as they emerge lend themselves to ideas how to incorporate them into other artwork. This is about the equivalent of a one hour sketch. I'm back and forth between it and other tasks as a homeowner that call me away and need my attention.

Rene Kunert says: This is wonderful! I have a hard time drawing ivy. You have those veins nailed :) ~ Reply?

Amy Sue Stirland replied to this: I struggle with ivy too. This is a beautiful sketch.
Joyce Jackson replied to this: Thank you Rene, you're very kind. It's only in a chart-like planning stage to get a feel for ivy. I haven't done ivy in art in a long time.
Joyce Jackson replied to this: Oh darn, sorry, I meant reply to Amy to be for you, but the same as I wrote in reply to Amy. Sorry Amy! You're all very kind. I wasn't really very impressed with this. Just a starting point.
Joyce Jackson replied to this: OK well, now I see what happened. I've tried twice now to reply to Rene & Amy separately, and the reply is ending up under Amy's. There's no reply hyperlink under Amy's. Anyway, thank you all, I'll try to reply to Mayumi now! lol
Rene Kunert replied to this: Yeah, it kind of works like a thread. I still get the notifications of your reply, so all is good :D

Mayumi Ogihara says: Fantastic sketch, Joyce! ~ Reply?

Joyce Jackson replied to this: Thanks Mayumi, I've written a book by now. I think I've thoroughly covered my position on this. It was just a small contribution I was able to fit in before Sketch Fest ended. I "had" to go to the craft stores because of their enticing sale coupons. It was a bust. They ended up not being applicable to the colored pencils I was after & the 2 stores didn't carry the pastels I was looking for.
Joyce Jackson replied to this: Arg! My last sentence got removed! Thanks to all for your lovely words of support! XXXOOO

Jenny Heidewald says: Very nice work on the ivy! Sorry your art store foray was a bust, I hate it when that happens. ~ Reply?

Joyce Jackson replied to this: LOL, Thank you Jenny. I'm too easy a target for those craft store coupons they come out with on Sunday. I use a coupon on a nice water media refillable Pentel pen/brush though. Can't wait to try it out. And thanks so much for your kind words on my ivy! :D
