Base2Gold by Carole Graham

by Carole Graham

Prompt: Urban Alchemy
prompted by: Selina Fenech, during Sketch Fest #10 (January, 2011)

This artist has posted at least one finished version of this piece!

Urban Alchemy - Base2Gold. "Urban" conjures up images of hip-hop culture and street art/graffiti, and "Alchemy" the search for the Philosopher's Stone and attempts to turn base metals into gold. This piece ended up being a bit of social commentary - the love of gold/bling in certain circles, and the selling of drugs(base)in inner cities being perceived as the only means to make money. Run out of time but aim to finish off the lettering.

Kerrie Rusk says: Thought-provoking description. Great interpretation! ~ Reply?
