Nesting Doll by Mahdra

Nesting Doll
by Mahdra

Prompt: Nesting Dolls
prompted by: Erich Heidewald, during Sketch Fest #50 (April, 2014)

"Nesting Dolls" can mean several different things (at least if I look at the online dictionaries) but when I see this title, I think of how birds make a nest out of branches and feathers. So to me "Nesting Doll" means a doll who is building her own cosey place to give birth. Hence, here you see a pregnant doll, gathering all kinds of objects she finds in the house (an old shoe, a sock, a feather) onto a porcelain plate... gently placing the items to make her own nest. And for me there's a kind of love in this picture, as well. How beautiful is it when you know a doll (which would be the last thing to give birth on this world) would actually be able to get a child? ^^ This digital sketch is available without the watermark and text on top (at the same size as displayed above, 1113x864 pixels, 300 dpi) for €10, of which 25% is donated to Sketch Fest.
