My emotions are in jars by Mahdra

My emotions are in jars
by Mahdra

Prompt: my emotions are in jars
prompted by: Jessica Reimer, during Sketch Fest #50 (April, 2014)

This artist has posted at least one finished version of this piece!

How much can happen to a person before they decide to completely 'close down'; build a wall so high that they can't even look over it themselves anymore? Maybe sometimes it is easier to stuck something away than to deal with it... but slowly it makes you into a cold, faceless person. The only true way to recovery is to let the emotions in and learn to accept them... (Note: At the one-hour mark I had to stop this image as per the rules, but I am going to finish the colour work on this one in a moment and upload it.)

Kerrie Rusk says: I like this! Although, I think I prefer the unfinished version, before the figure was coloured in. I thought the transparent look was also part of the concept. But both versions are great. ~ Reply?

Mahdra replied to this: It wasn't part of the concept, but that would have been a really great idea as well! Looking back at both versions (the unfinished and the finished) I have to say, that maybe especially the brightness of the woman in the picture may make her stand out more than perhaps she should. (Then again, I specifically wanted to make her pale, reflecting her state). I'll see if I can make an edit to create an alternative finished version.

Jessica Reimer says: Wow!! This is lovely ~ Reply?
