Mother's Hands by Janet Chui

Mother's Hands
by Janet Chui

Prompt: Hands in a storm
prompted by: Jacqui Tanner, during Sketch Fest #6 (September, 2010)

This probably has anatomy problems. (It's hard to pose one's hands as visual reference when those same hands are drawing/holding the sketch paper!)

Nicole Cadet says: I like this Janet. The eyes really connect with the viewer, even though they aren't looking directly at you ~ Reply?

Jacqui Tanner says: This is lovely Janet. If you don't mind me asking, what was the idea behind this... i mean I know it was my prompt but I wanted to know what that made you envision! Its so wonderful. I agree with Nicole, the eyes are wonderful ~ Reply?

Ellen the Million says: Wow, I really, really like this one. So direct and powerful. Any anatomy problems are overwhelmed by the emotion. ~ Reply?

Deirdre / Wyld_Dandelyon says: A storm of hands! Not where I'd have taken this prompt, but powerful. ~ Reply?

Noreen says: Love the way hands can be the calm in a storm.. This is a powerful composition.. Stunning.. ~ Reply?

Janet Chui says: Thanks for the comments! @Jacqui I was inspired by a real thunderstorm, actually! My 11-month-old jumped whenever the thunder boomed and would grip either me or my husband for a hug. (Cute overload, I know.) ~ Reply?

Jacqui Tanner says: Awww thats so sweet! I am so glad that I inspired you :) ~ Reply?
