The Summer King by Shell

The Summer King
by Shell

Prompt: Neverending Summer
prompted by: Gwynn Starrydance Farrington , during Sketch Fest #14 (May, 2011)

The placement is a bit dodgy, and my scanner tried to pretend that the birch forest background didn't exist, but overall I am happy enough to want to do a larger painting of this concept :) 45min graphite sketch on A4 paper.

Janet Chui says: I thought the birch trees were trailing wisteria(sp?) at first, but I still love the concept, and the crown so casually hanging off his foot! Can't wait to see this in colour! ~ Reply?

Mary Katherine S says: This is wonderful! He looks so relaxed, "Yup. I'm the king." ~ Reply?

Kerrie Rusk says: Love the relaxed pose! ~ Reply?

Ann Gates Fiser says: I love it. Nice feel! ~ Reply?

Carole Graham says: Very atmospheric - a colour version will be awesome! ~ Reply?
