Here's a recap of some of the common questions, just so no one has to go digging around in the forum for them:

Do not fill in the character name. The adopter gets to name the character, so that needs to be left blank.

Do sign and date on the line.

Please mail them flat, unfolded. The post office has a tendancy to stuff them in my box no matter what is written on them, so stiff protective packaging is a plus.

Please print or copy them on nice looking, good-quality paper or cardstock. You don't have to go broke printing them on gold foil paper, but it would be nice if they were parchment, or a flecked paper and please make sure there are no unsightly streaks or faded areas in the text.

You can send as many as you'd like, with your agreement paperwork, or at any time.

Some wonderful touches our artists have come up with:

Tiziano sent his in with a personal seal impressed into the paper! Very nice presentation.

Marilyn sent in a bio to include with her color pieces that were adopted. Hers were printed separately, but you could also include a little blurb printed on the back of your certificates if you chose.

Likewise, if you'd like to include a business card, or a personal 'thank you for adopting my work' goodie of any kind (that doesn't increase postage - no bricks!), feel free to.

If you'd like to design your own personal adoption certificate, you can do that too, as long as you include ALL of the text from the provided certificate.

If you need the certificate (or agreement) in a different format, let me know!

~Ellen

Ha! That was exactly what I was looking for Ellen. I clearly wasn't understanding the FAQ. This clarifies it perfectly. Thanks!

D'oh. Put my agreement/certificates in the post a few days ago and totally failed to think of doing something like that. I guess my certificates'll have that certain 'minimalist' look, then!

Web adoption does not include the certificate. But having extra certificates on hand is always good. You never know when a rash of inspiration will hit, and I've just cleared out my filing cabinet, so I've got lots of space.

Y'know, I was actually going to feel a bit guilty that I added glittery/metallic gel pen colors to the PA logo without asking first, but now I feel better. :)

OMG such cool smilies.
:jester: :ninja: :whee: :werewolf:
Okay, stopped the smilie parade. (sorry. XD )

Aren't the new smilies cool?

I think a little personal touch on the certificates will be appreciated by the PA customers. It's fun seeing all the original ideas that come in.

I will be sending in 20 copies of the adoption certificates. Will I need to date them all? Seems kinda weird to date 20 copies when I only have one piece of art for adoption.

Do date them all! The date and your signature is more about the agreement not to produce more prints than about the creation of the artwork.

And Klawzie, I thought the metallic touches were quite nice!

Hey! I'll be sending in my application as soon as possible, but since I live in the UK I wanted to send some certificates along with it, and thats kinda where to problem is.
See, I was thinking of printing them on some special card with maybe a marble pattern and making a gold border, or maybe a pretend parchment look. Viking office supplies did things exactly like this, but the paper they make them on is too low density for a nice certificate, in my opinion. Do you know any sites where I can order batches of fancy patterned paper - preferably UK based? I'm looking into that right now.

edit:
Oh snaps!

Do you think getting a batch of something like this is a good idea? And is 105gsm strong enough?

I have a batch of certificates on exactly that paper (I think!) and it looks wonderful. They aren't too flimsy, IMHO.

:)

Stuff it, I found some of the marble paper I was looking for on proper card density, in a store thats actually local! That'll make it a lot easier to resupply, and a lot cheaper than mail order. Horaay. :9

Plus I totally get a student discount at that place.

dern, i feel like a dummy!
i thought they had to be all standard to look nice and uniform.
i'll have to make up for my total lack of imagination on my certificates by posting some stickers to give away or something.

actually, maybe just getting some portraits ready would be a good idea...

If im asking this in the wrong place-I appologize in advance.

However, Im curious whats needed to become one of the artist here? Anything other then submitting the proper forms and start sending in scans of portraits?

That's pretty much it! Once you've sent in your paperwork (and I strongly recommend sending certificates at the same time!), I'll give you login information for the submission site, and you can get started. :)

Alaric, I wish you good luck with making money! : ) Drawing is great, but if you can make money off it is, it's even better.

Is it ok if we change the design? I wanted to make a different set everytime I sent new ones to keep things interesting.
