My goodness, sorry for the late reply here, Lydia - yes, of course you are welcome to change the design from time to time... As long as they include all of the information from the original certificates (most importantly the webpage address!), you can rearrange them to suit your mood. :)

I'd also like to add to the suggestions above that you avoid wax seals - it seems like I get more that are broken than aren't, and they still have to travel to a customer, too! If you must include one, make sure the wax isn't too brittle or thick.

And I'll reiterate that sending them protected is a must! If the postal guys at the local place CAN bend it, they will. (I think they think they're doing me a favor by cramming it into my box, no matter how many times I mention that I don't want my mail mangled... I've sort of given up at this point.)

Hi everyone! Very helpful topic! solved a lot of doubts. But I still got one... Where exactly am I supposed to sign the certificate? on the line, right before the date? or above, where it says "Artist's Signature:"?? Or in both places? Also, ain't I supposed to put my full name somewhere too?

I know they're silly questions, but I needed to ask 'em or wouldn't be able to sleep tonite (¿?) haha ok, I'm exaggerating, but you know what I mean.
Thanks in advance for any help. (:

:D

The signature should go on the same line as the date, and there's no need for writing your name out, too. (Though in some cases, it would be helpful when a signature is unreadable!)

Thanks, Ellen! :D With a little luck, this Monday I'm sending all the papers.

Hi~

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I'm going to ask anyway. Feel free to throw sticks or stones if I'm being a dummy. ^_^

I'm in the process of getting the paperwork all printed out and stuff and uhm... I'm not sure which name to sign the certificates WITH. That might sound like an odd question but I actually generally sign my artwork with my moniker which is 'Childe of Fyre' - and this name is a nickname I've had for so long that it's more natural for me to respond to 'Seliah' than it is to my birth name.

But neither one are my *legal* names! So uhm. Do I need to sign the certificates with the legal name, or...? LOL

Sign the certificates as your name will appear on the site - which... is tricky. We alphabetize by last name, so I guess I would recommend using Seliah as that name and leaving your first name blank, and listing 'Childe of Fyre' in your bio at the site. Or maybe use 'Childe of Fyre' as your first name (it would show up as 'Childe of Fyre' Seliah)? I haven't run into pennames this tricky before, so I don't have a set way to deal with it, sorry!

The contract needs to be signed with your legal name, but do also sign it as you sign your certificates, just so I can match them up, please. :)

Hi Ellen.

Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to sign the contract with my legal name, but I'm going to also sign both my nicknames to it as well just so you have a record on file that it's me if there's ever any question about who it is or whatever.

I'll.. figure something out I suppose as far as the site goes. *chuckles* I've been called 'Seliah' since I was 10 years old. I'm a few months shy of 30 now, so that tells you how long the name's been in use! LOL

Hopefully I'll have the papers and whatnot ready to mail out in the next couple of days, and you can look them over and if you want something changed or what have you, it's easy enough to just print them out again and fill it out with the changes.

Perhaps you can use this format:

Firstname "'Seliah" Lastname

Would that be appropriate for signing a legal contract? At the very least it could be used on the certificates, perhaps.

*nods* That's what I'm going to do, I think. I still think it's important that Ellen has my legal name as well as the pen name on the contract, but as far as the certificates go and the site itself, I'm probably going to do that. ^_^
